RV Shadow Privacy Policy

RV Shadow is a Chrome extension from Nomadic RV Solutions. Its single purpose is to help you preview sun direction and an illustrative RV shadow at a campsite selected in Google Maps™, for your chosen date and time. This policy explains the extension's data practices.

1. Information the extension handles

When you click the RV Shadow toolbar icon, the extension checks the active tab's URL to determine whether it is a supported Google Maps page. On Google Maps, it may read the map-center latitude and longitude embedded in that URL.

You can also enter or adjust coordinates, travel date, time, timezone, RV size, position, and direction in the overlay. RV Shadow uses the selected map location, which may be different from your actual location. It does not request or access your device's GPS location or continuously monitor your browsing activity.

2. How information is used

The active tab URL is used to check compatibility with Google Maps and obtain map-center coordinates when available. Coordinates, date, time, and timezone are used to calculate the local timezone and approximate sun position. RV size, position, and direction are used to display the interactive RV icon and illustrative shadow. All calculations run locally in your browser.

3. Chrome permissions

• activeTab: Provides temporary access to the active tab after you click the extension icon. RV Shadow uses this access to check the page URL, obtain Google Maps coordinates, and run the overlay.
• scripting: Allows RV Shadow to run the timezone, solar-calculation, and overlay scripts included in its package on the active Google Maps page after your toolbar click.

RV Shadow does not request persistent access to all websites or permission to read your browser's history database.

4. Storage, retention, and deletion

The extension keeps inputs and calculated values only in memory for the active overlay session. It does not save user data in Chrome storage, local storage, cookies, or a server. Closing the overlay ends the session; reopening it starts a new session. There is no extension account or stored user-data record for us to retrieve or delete.

5. Sharing, advertising, and remote code

RV Shadow does not transmit extension-handled URLs, coordinates, inputs, or calculations to us or to third parties. It has no server component, accounts, analytics, advertising, tracking, or telemetry. It does not sell or share this data.

All executable code and calculation libraries are bundled with the extension. RV Shadow does not download or execute remotely hosted code.

6. Limited Use

RV Shadow's use of information obtained through Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is used only for the extension's campsite sun-preview feature. It is not sold, used for advertising or unrelated purposes, used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes, or transferred to third parties. Because the extension does not transmit this information to us, we do not receive it for human review.

7. Other services and support

Google Maps and the Chrome Web Store operate separately under their own privacy policies. This policy covers RV Shadow's extension functionality; it does not describe the separate practices of those services or the hosting website. Information you choose to send separately in a support request is outside the extension's automatic local processing described above.

8. Changes to this policy

If the extension's data practices change, we will update this policy and its Chrome Web Store privacy disclosures before publishing the changed version. The effective date above identifies this policy version.
